Inkscape Upcoming Feature – Flood Fill Tool

By ryanlerch

Here is the next in my series of screencasts about the upcoming features in Inkscape. Today’s feature is the new Flood Fill (paint bucket tool.) This tool will be available in the upcoming 0.46 release of Inkscape. The image that is coloured in in this video is a Public Domain SVG from openclipart.org. I have also posted the resulting SVG on open clip art if you wish to see it.

Check out the notes about the new flood fill tool on the Inkscape Wiki

I can’t wait for this tool. It just makes the program easier to use for novices.

YES! I’ve wanted a feature like this for I don’t know how long. Now I won’t have to export my comics to color in GIMP any more! (Actually I still might for some special effects, but this will really cut down on the coloring time.)

But as you can see in the screencast, this makes many little filled paths but one (the ketchup eg). That causes ugly SVG files.
