inkscape: pattern to path examples (coconut tree trunk and chain)
By ryanlerch
i was playing around with the pattern along path effect in inkscape (effects>generate from path>pattern along path) and here are a couple of simple examples of the workflow and results that i got from using this versatile little inkscape effect.
Example 1 – Simple Chain – (note the negative value for space between copies…)

Example 2 – Coconut Tree Trunk

Ryan – I promised I’d drop by again. Thank you for the tip you left on my site – it works wonderfully, and I’m not sure I would have found it so fast without your help. I’m pumping out little Inkscape pictures like nobody’s business now, and it’s thanks to you.
Also, just wanted to say – love this site. The tutorials are proving very helpful!
Best wishes,
CJ

Do you know if it is possible to make this using an image ? I failed doing it because i didn’t manage to figure out a way make the image object into a path object.
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance
