yet another cheesy inkscape effect

Im so very sorry about the lame pun, but i was playing with the 3d text tecnique that i documented in my last tutorial and i came up with this using inkscape: please tell me what you think!

Basically the same result, but its yellow and has holes in it.
Sorry again about the lame pun.

I have also played a bit with this effect, unfortunately the result look a little blurry (no wonder, and the main “ingredient” is the blur filter).

yeah, i was having troubles with the blurriness as well, i played around with clipping the blur hard around the text, and some other stuff, they kinds work, ping me here if you come up with a good tecnique!

being able to “map” a gradient to a path would help greatly in creating bevel-type effects, but AFAIK, there is no support in SVG for that, (am i right?)
